If you've been tasked with the job of organising an extra special hen party and you know that a loud, drunken night on the town with L-plates isn't quite your style, then booking up a long weekend in luxury self catering accommodation for a girly get together is a great alternative.

Sleeping 18, Holemoor Stables is perfect; enjoying a private, rural setting it opens up endless possibilities for a few sophisticated days away with a bunch of great girls, and there are lots of ideas on our Extras page to help you out. If you're an outdoorsy bunch of belles you can head out into the countryside on horseback, or go exploring on foot, or by bike, and perhaps wind up at one of the village pubs nearby for lunch. Castle Neroche or Staple Hill on the Blackdown Hills are good for a walk, with a choice of the Greyhound Inn or the Holman Clavel for refreshments. Or go and explore the Somerset Levels, which aren't very far away; climb Glastonbury Tor or Burrow Mump and take photos at the top; go back down for lunch at the Who'd A Thought It Inn in Glastonbury, or the King Alfred at Burrowbridge. Stroll along the River Tone and tuck into some home made fare at the creeper clad Bird in Hand at North Curry, or the Fire House at Curry Rivel.

If you're more the shop-til-you-drop kinds of girls then head to Clark's Village or Taunton, or if you really want to make a day of it, whizz up to Bath or Bristol. If you prefer to stay in, well that's fine because we've got a big list of suppliers who can come in and pamper you, entertain you, cook for you - and some novel ideas for hen party fun. How about a life drawing class, or a crafty corsage making session? A belly dance workshop, casino night, or your own cocktail class? As Holemoor Stables is designed in the layout of a Roman villa, you could have a themed weekend - wear togas and lounge around the pool, taking turns to peel grapes for the bride to be! Why not get our professional portrait photographer in to capture it all on camera - pictures and memories to last a lifetime, and plenty to keep you talking for years to come.
