Foxhill Lodge is a tastefully converted barn tucked away on a working farm in the Blackdown Hills on the Somerset/Devon border. It sleeps 10 people in 5 bedrooms (2 en suite) and is calm and spacious throughout, with a games room, BBQ lodge, hot tub, and use of an outdoor heated pool from Easter to the end of October. The views are stunning, the fresh air invigorating but most of all, it’s a wonderful place for holidays for friends, families and corporate groups.
Just down the road is the village of Culmstock; cycle to the Strand Stores and cafe, to the Culm Valley Inn for lunch, go for a walk up to Culm Beacon or along the River Culm. Wellington isn’t far and has supermarkets, independent shops, a cinema, trampoline farmer’s markets; take the kids to Flip Out Wellington for a bounce on the trampolines, or to the Bear Trail near Cullompton. Go to Taunton where there’s a golf course, ten pin bowling, mini golf and a high ropes course, or take a trip to Exeter to discover the Underground Passages and the cathedral.
Get out and explore the beautiful Blackdown Hills, great walking territory with several attractive villages where you’ll find welcoming country pubs. Head over to the coast for the day and go fossil hunting, rockpooling or out on a fishing trip at Lyme Regis, then have fish and chips on the beach.
But you might just want to stay put at Foxhill Lodge because it’s such a delight; have lunch on the veranda, amble up the lane, watch the sunset over the hills.
