The traditional hen party is an ancient rite of passage to wedded bliss; an opportunity to gather together your favourite females and head off for a weekend of celebrating. Finding the right place to stay isn't always easy, but nestled in Somerset's Blackdown Hills, Flossy Brook fits the bill perfectly; sleeping 12 in 5 stylish bedrooms, this award winning self catering lodge is spacious and luxurious, so plenty of room for you and your hens to sing and dance - plus there's a fabulous integral heated pool so you can take a dip any time of day or night without having to go outside.

The big patio is a real sun trap, a great place for barbecues, afternoon tea, drinks and chit chat, and no need to worry about anyone overhearing you because all around you is beautiful Somerset countryside. The kitchen is very well equipped but we appreciate that cooking for 12 can be a quite a chore so book a table for a celebration feast at the Candlelight Inn, just a short stroll down the lane, or call in one of the tried and tested local caterers from our Extras page . If you're planning a day out take a look at our Things To Do pages for inspiration - you'll find exquisite historic houses to visit, like Montacute House, Barrington Court and Forde Abbey, small market towns to browse and stop for lunch, like Ilminster, Wellington and Honiton. For a bigger dose of retail therapy go to Taunton, Somerset's county town; whilst you're there have a stroll around Vivary Park, maybe a go on the high ropes at Vivary Adventure Centre, ten pin bowling on the outskirts of town, and lunch at The Cosy Club, The Bank or Brazz. A more unusual palce to visit and within easy reach is the South West Deer Rescue and Study Centre where you can get close up to the deer and even hand feed them.

Also on our Extras page you'll find fantastic ideas to make your hen weekend one that you'll all be talking about for years to come; if your group are the outdoorsy type, then just pick up one of the footpaths from the doorstep and explore the fields and hills, or go further afield for activities like cycling and pony trekking. Pamper your hens with an indulgent spa treatment - perhaps an Indian head massage, or a relaxing facial; have a dance class - stamp your feet flamenco style or opt for some hip shaking samba. Gather round the table and make vintage textile corsages or garters, decorate cup cakes, or paint your own pottery; dress up to the nines in the evening and have your very own cocktail waiter to serve you Mickey Slims and Singapore Slings, or mix your own at a cocktail clinic - all in the comfort of Flossy Brook. Heaps of inspiration to add that special touch to your hen weekend - but don't dally! Get your band of beauties together and book up for a weekend of girly celebrating to remember!
