Flossy Brook welcomes well behaved dogs - after all, why would you want to leave your favourite pet behind when you're spending time regrouping and having a great time with friends and family? In such a beautiful rural area you'll find no shortage of enjoyable walks right on your doorstep, whether it's a leisurely amble or a twelve mile hike, so your fourlegged friend is guaranteed to have plenty of good exercise.

Close by you can explore the glorious countryside of the Blackdown Hills, with a network of footpaths and bridleways that take you through a landscape of rolling hills and stunning views. Within a few miles are Otterhead Lakes, the anicent hill fort of Castle Neroche, and Staple Common, all jolly good walking terrain for humans and pooches, and to cap it most of the pubs round these parts are dog friendly, so you don't have to miss out on well deserved refreshments after your walk; the Holman Clavel,  just a few miles up the road, the Greyhound Inn at Staple Fitzpaine, The Farmers Arms at West Hatch, or the Half Moon at Clayhidon are all good. In the village is The Candlelight Inn; have a stroll around Bishopswood Meadows and then call in for a drink.

Have a good day out rambling over the moors of Exmoor National Park, rounded off with a swim in the River Barle at Tarr Steps or a waterside stroll and a cream tea at Watersmeet; if you fancy something more strenuous kick off with a hike up to the summit at Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor, or go and spuddle about at Porlock Weir where there's a dog friendly beach. The Quantocks are good for days out exploring too; climb Wills Neck and admire the views over to the Bristol Channel; you'll feel you've earned a pint at The Blue Ball Inn at Triscombe after that! Amble up throught the woods at Hodders Combe or Holford Combe to the windswept bracken clad heaths and then head down for tucker at the Plough Inn. Park in the car park at East Quantoxhead, walk along the cliff and through the fields to Kilve where you can hunt for fossils on the beach and have a slice of homemade cake at Chantry Tea Gardens. If your furry friend likes a paddle in th sea you'll find some great beaches on the West Dorset coast just a 30 minute drive away - Lyme Regis and Charmouth both have year round dog friendly areas. On the East Devon coast , a similar distance away, Axmouth Harbour beach is a very peaceful place for a stroll, and in Seaton you can walk along the East Beach to the Hideaway Cafe snucked between the cliffs at the far end. When you get back to Flossy Brook, a little play in the garden or a cosy night in front of the wood-burner is sure to send your faithfull friend off for a good night's sleep.
