High up on a hillside with commanding views across Bridgwater Bay to the Bristol Channel and Wales, Dancing Hill has been lovingly converted from two centuries old cottages to a luxury large group holiday home. The ambience is warm and welcoming and you'll notice that as soon as you walk in through the timber porch to a wide hallway, bursting with character with soft lighting, herringbone terracotta tiles on the floor, a low ceiling and exposed timbers. Go straight through to the kitchen; plenty of cupboard space, an electric range with 2 big ovens, a warming oven and a five ring hob, a dishwasher and fridge/freezer. In the middle of the room there’s a table and chairs, so it's a nice spot for a quiet breakfast. Steps go down to the huge dining room.
Flooded with natural daylight from the windows that wrap round two sides, this is a fantastic room with the most amazing aluminium dining table and studded leather chairs. To one end are big leather sofas and a 56” Smart TV for those all important matches. Bi-fold doors open onto the patio, and to the kitchen side French doors lead to the covered veranda and secure garden. The dining room leads off to a big walk in pantry with a larder fridge and heaps of storage, and to a quirky loo with a walk in rainfall shower.
Go left from the hall into a big sitting room that overlooks the front garden; warm and inviting, with sofas to sink into, an enamelled wood-burning stove (logs supplied), 40” TV and plenty of books. Note the glass-covered, backlit working well in the floor.
Off this room is a utility room with a washer and dryer, and a loo. Also accessed by a back door, this is perfect for when you get back from a country walk with muddy boots and wet dogs. Go through to the games room; country pursuits wallpaper brings character to the room, there's table tennis and sofas for spectators.
From here you can go back through to the kitchen or step out through the double doors onto the veranda.
To the right of the hall is the downstairs bedroom (Bedroom 6) with a feature fireplace, wooden beams and a superking bed (zip and link, so it can be arranged as two singles if you prefer).
Take the stairs from the hall to a long landing leading off to the individually designed bedrooms. To the right is Bedroom 5 with access to a small ante-room with quirky Penguin book wallpaper and soft seating. Windows to two sides give you views over the living roof terrace (not accessible) and views over Bridgwater Bay to the Bristol Channel. There's room for an extra guest on the sofa bed in this room,at an extra charge.
Straight ahead at the top of the stairs is Bedroom 1 with zip and link beds (superking), a TV and an ensuite rainfall shower. Sit in bed with a cup of tea and admire views that stretch for miles. A door leads to the ante-room, and off this another to Bedroom 2 (lockable) - so this makes a good set up for a family with parents in one room and the children in the other. You can also have a single Z bed in Bedroom 1 or the ante-room - or both, to sleep up to 2 more people, at an extra charge.
Bedroom 3 overlooks the front garden and has a superking bed (zip and link) and big built in wardrobes. We love the quirky wallpaper with velvety dogs!
Bedroom 4 is a pretty room with a double bed, plenty of built in storage and an outlook over the front garden to the village and the countryside beyond.
The upstairs family bathroom is vintage style, tiled in heritage green and cream, with a bath and a step up to a walk in rain shower.
From the ample parking area go through an ornate cast iron gate to the front garden, with steps up to the lawn. To the side of the house a wooden gate leads round the back to the woodstore, a covered veranda and secure lawned garden. A further gate takes you to the patio where there’s outdoor seating and a BBQ. Step down to an enormous hot tub and a 4m swim spa; another gate leads to the lawns and paddock beyond. The garden is surrounded by fields and farmland; right at the bottom of the paddock is a very special place to sit with a drink and see the lights twinkling on the far horizon.
