If you’re looking for a truly amazing large group holiday house in a great setting, with heaps of space and all the facilities you need to keep everyone entertained, Churchill 30 ticks all the boxes. Age-old farm buildings have been incorporated into the design of the house yet the style is contemporary, the feel is relaxed country living; it’s a place to kick back, to unwind and make memories. Set amidst the beautiful Somerset landscape on a farm that’s been in the same family for generations, there’s fresh air by the lungful and birdsong all around.
From the car park a gate opens onto a secure courtyard with a patio and a lawned area; sit out with your morning coffee, keep an eye on the kids larking about, get up and join in; perfect. Open the doors into a big glass fronted lobby, and go straight ahead into the immense open plan living space; there’s a comfy seating area to one end with a gorgeous velvet sofa, then a big long dining table for all those fabulous feasts you’ll have, and right at the other end is a dream of a kitchen with enough of everything and more besides - all carefully thought out to take the stress out of catering for your large group.
But just look at those views! Full height windows mean it’s always there for you to see, inside or outside - just miles and miles of glorious uninterrupted countryside rolling on and on forever. Imagine all those happy hours spent out on the glass fronted balcony where you feel like you’re very much a part of the landscape; sit out there with your favourite tipple and soak up those far reaching vistas, watch the sunset over the Blackdown Hills on the horizon. Isn't that what holidays are about?
Downstairs from the humongous living space there’s a lounge/cinema room and a games room, totally geared up for large groups. The cinema room has huge L-shaped sofas, a coour changing electric fireplace, and a whole wall for projection, really setting the scene for a movie night or that VERY important match. Just next door is the games room where you can play pool, table football, air hockey and table tennis, and to save you going back upstairs you can fill the fridge with drinks and snacks.
Left of the lobby a hallway leads to The Stable where Bedrooms 1-5 can be found. Bedroom 1 is at the end and is completely access friendly with a good sized wet room and snooze space for 3. Bedroom 2 sleeps 5 and has an en suite shower room, Bedroom 3 also sleeps 5 and has the luxury of an en suite bathroom with a roll top bath and a separate shower. Bedrooms 4 and 5 are upstairs; Bedroom 4 sleeps 4, Bedroom 5 sleeps 3, and both have en suite shower rooms. It’s worth remembering that all bedrooms at Churchill 30 have zip and link beds so you can have them arranged as superkings or twins, it’s entirely up to you.
Go round to the left and you’ll find a glass fronted utility area with a lot of storage and room for prepping for big feasts. there's plenty of worktop space, a full height fridge-freezer, dishwasher and laundry facilities, so it's ideal should you decide to hire private caterers for a very special celebration. Left again are Bedrooms 6 and 7 in the Wagon Shed, which both sleep 2 and have en suite shower rooms.
Carry on along the hallway and there’s the spa hall, with safety locks on the doors, as you’d expect; go on in and we know exactly what you’re going to say: WOW! And quite rightly so - this is one seriously impressive spa hall, glass fronted, with plenty of room to lounge by the pool side, a big sauna built into one corner, and down the end, a sunken hot tub. And just look at those beams! Centuries old, those are the original pegged elm beams that kept the roof up when this was a wagon shed back in the day; we love that, how so much of the essential character of the old barns has been retained and how well it works with the overall contemporary look.
Next to the spa hall in the Garden Wall are Bedrooms 8-10, all accessed via their own private doors from the courtyard. They all sleep 2 and have en suite shower rooms; the beauty is that on those balmy summer nights it’s so easy to just step outside for a breath of cool night air and a glance up at a night sky full of stars. Churchill 30 has the lot, which is why it’s a winner for all kinds of large group stays – for family holidays, groups of friends getting together, corporate away days or hospitality, and something that’s very popular, somewhere to come with the chosen few to celebrate a big birthday or a special anniversary.
