6 extra guests can be accommodated at Gate Cottage at an additional charge. It’s one of those picture postcard perfect cottages that you might walk past and think “Ooh, that looks lovely. I wonder what it’s like inside?” Well now you can find out, if you need a bit of extra snooze space for your large group stay at Bossington Hall.
Gate Cottage is at the bottom of the drive to Bossington Hall, so it’s ideal for people in your party who like to have their own space, time away from the crowd so to speak. It’s also a good option for elderly people, or for a family with very young children who need to turn in early.
Inside the cottage is lovely and cosy; it’s got a wonderful feel about it, like your favourite aunt has lent you her home for a few days. It’s a proper job helping of country life, especially in the summer when you can leave the windows open at night and hear the birds chirruping when you wake up. There’s a homely sitting room with comfy sofas, a TV and DVD player, and a wood-burner to make it nice and toasty on those chillier days. The kitchen is well-equipped, galley style, and has a back door that opens onto the little garden; the dining room has armchairs, a table that comfortably seats 6, and for the young 'uns, a TV and PS4.
There's a downstairs wet room and upstairs are three double bedrooms with a very calm and restful ambience; two have kingsize beds, the other has two singles. Interiors are just as they should be in a centuries old cottage like this – full of charm with old stone fireplaces, pictures rails, latch and brace doors, painted floorboards, and colourful rugs, with furniture and accessories that are all in keeping.
Outside is a gravelled courtyard garden, which is quite a sun trap and because it’s nice and private, it makes a lovely spot for breakfast when the sun is shining, or for a bbq lunchtime or evening. In the summer there are flowerpots spilling over with fragrant fresh herbs; the outlook of the wooded slopes of this part of Exmoor are utter soul fodder.
And that’s another thing – the views. Gate Cottage has a wonderful vista to feast your eyes upon from every window, so we can quite confidently say that you’ll probably wish you could stay longer. Come and enjoy, come and unwind in this dreamy Exmoor cottage. Wander up the drive to join the rest of your group whenever you want, the time is all yours.
