Walnut Arbour - Accommodation
Walnut Arbour is a large and luxurious group holiday home that sleeps 12, with room for 2 more guests at an extra charge per person. Imagine having your own private spa – that’s what it’s like here, with an indoor pool, a sauna, hot tub and steam room. Add to that a games room and a play area for children and you’ll see why this place ticks a lot of boxes; there really is something for all ages and you don’t need to give a hoot about the weather.
Pull up at the front of the house or in the private parking area to the side and go through the gate to the front courtyard where there’s outdoor seating, a barbecue and a covered hot tub. Step into the hall and straight ahead are the stairs, to the right is the living room where there are big fat sofas to cosy up on, a huge TV for family movie nights, and a wood-burner that you can light after a wintry walk along the river; warm up beside it with a tray of hot buttery toast, and mugs of steaming hot chocolate…
Left of the hallway is the dining room where a long chunky table seats all; pile it high, gather round and tuck in for those very special occasions – significant birthdays, remarkable anniversaries. Make it extra special by booking one of the private caterers on our Extras list; they’ll come round and create a feast fit for a king. Round to the left of the dining room is the kitchen, light and airy, Shaker style, and well equipped so catering for your large group shouldn’t be any bother. A stable door leads out to the paved courtyard; on warm days leave the top part open and let the fresh air and bird song drift in.
Off the sitting room a short hallway leads to Bedrooms 5 and 6 and a shared shower room. In Bedroom 5 a day bed provides snooze space for an extra guest (charged). In this part of the house a small lobby leads out to an enclosed walled garden with play equipment for the younger folk.
Upstairs there’s a small landing and 3 steps to either side; go right and down the end is Bedroom 1 with an ensuite shower room. Just along the landing, Bedroom 2 also has its own shower room; a nice feature of these bedrooms is the vaulted, wooden-clad ceilings, giving a light and airy, slightly New England feel. Next to Bedroom 2 there’s a family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, also accessed from Bedroom 3.
Bedrooms 3 and 4 are left of the landing; Bedroom 4 has the option of an additional bed at an extra charge. The bedrooms are all modern in style with a crisp simplistic look, so the ambience is very restful. All beds are zip and link so you can have them arranged as super kings or twins.
The games room is accessed from the front courtyard, just a few steps from the main house; it's a commodious light flooded room with floor to ceiling windows on one side. Play pool or table football, curl up on the enormous L-shaped sofa to catch that all-important match on the big screen TV, or plug in a console and away you go. Hours of entertainment for kids of all ages!
On from the games room is the pool hall, with the steam room just off to the right; doors open to a rear courtyard where there’s a barrel sauna and outdoor seating. Along with the hot tub, this all makes Walnut Arbour fantastic for private spa weekends; no sharing the facilities with strangers, and you can even book mobile therapists to come round and give you hot stone massages or beauty treatments – see our Extras page for details. Come and spoil yourselves, lap up the luxury, reconnect and unwind in a world of your own. Book today!
