The Smugglers Inn, Dawlish, Devon

If you don’t mind the crowds and you like a good pub grub then The Smugglers will suit you fine; Dawlish gets very busy in the peak summer months so you’ll find a similar story wherever you go, but this is one of the more popular places. The location is a draw - sea views, countryside, but not just that - the atmosphere is nice and relaxed, everyone is welcome, and the food seems to go down well – you’ll literally see ‘em queuing up for the Farmers Feast Carvery. Apart from that the menu is mostly pub classics and British favourites, with a good choice for children and a long list of sandwiches. Plenty of room for big groups, so book a table and go and enjoy yourself. Sit out on the terrace in the sunshine and get a load of that sea view.
