Podshavers Barn, Bishops Lydeard, Somerset
Once found, never forgotten. Tucked away down a narrow lane in the Somerset countryside near Bishops Lydeard, in a past life it was a milking shed but now it’s been transformed to a popular restaurant where a lovely beamed ceiling and cosy subdued lighting add to the relaxing ambience; outside there’s a delightful little courtyard. Food is top notch; nibble on garlic bread and olives whilst you choose from the menu, with temptations such as Smoked Eel & Apple Salad with Walnuts & Lemon Dressing to start, followed by Breast of Duck with 5 Spice, Honey & Sesame Greens, and then Hot Oozing Chocolate Pudding… there’s an extensive wine list, service is efficient and charming; they certainly know how to make you feel welcome. Booking is essential but this is one epicurean delight that shouldn't be missed so do it.
