Pink Thatch - Accommodation
When you arrive at Pink Thatch you'll feel any worries slip away as soon as you step through the big oak door to the porch; it's as if the whole place lets out a soft sigh and welcomes you in. Extended and renovated in recent years, this gorgeous country cottage dates back to the 16th century and is full of rustic character; chunky stone walls, big thick timbers, exposed beams, flagstones and oak floorboards, and original fireplaces.
Go straight through to the huge kitchen/dining room, light and airy with a well-equipped kitchen to one end and to the other a big sturdy dining table that really sets the scene for those special family celebrations. Bi-fold doors open onto the garden, so when it’s warm it’s nice to have them pulled wide, the sunshine rolling in.
A lobby leads from the kitchen to 2 ground floor bedrooms and a shower room - a great set up for a couple with young children, or for anyone who finds stairs a little tricky. Bedroom 5 has a single bed and room for a single Z-bed at no extra charge, Bedroom 6 has a double bed and an en suite shower room.
Back in the porch, to the left is the living room, full of country character, with a beamed ceiling, huge rustic timbers, and massive flagstones on the floor. There’s a quirky fireplace with a wood-burner and in the back wall, the original bread oven. Put your feet up on the sofas and chill; this is a room to gather together by the fire after a winters walk, to snuggle up and watch movies or play games, to chat and just be.
Beyond the living room is the games room with a pool table, an old brick fireplace with a wood-burner, a window seat, and French doors to the garden. An open-tread wooden staircase leads up to Bedrooms 3 and 4; Bedroom 4 has zip and link beds that can be arranged as a king size or two 2ft 6" beds. Bedroom 3 is an amazing room with centuries old exposed rafters soaring to the roof, and because it can sleep 4 it's great for a family. There are zip and link beds that can be configured as a super king or two 3ft singles, and a day bed with a pull-out truckle. In the ensuite bathroom there’s a huge walk-in shower and an old marble topped washstand that’s been adapted to hold 2 contemporary wash basins - it's like something from an interiors magazine! Up a couple of steps is a dressing area and a door to Bedroom 2 which has zip and link beds that can be a king size or 2ft 6" twins, and its own ensuite shower room.
Just along the landing is where the stairs from the kitchen rise, and right at the end is Bedroom 1, above the dining area. This is a very spacious room, another one that sleeps 4, in zip and links (super king or twin) and two singles. A fabulous feature of this room is the full height windows giving views over the garden and of the hill that rises opposite the cottage, where cows contentedly graze most of the year. The ensuite bathroom has a free standing rolltop bath and a separate shower.
Just outside of the dining area there's a terrace with garden furniture; steps lead down to decking and the covered hot tub. To sit out there in the hot tub on a beautiful summers day when the trees are in full leaf and the birds are happily twittering away is a dream; the stream chuckles along at the bottom of the garden, squirrels scamper about on the lawns. The gardens stretch along the entire length of the cottage so there's so plenty of room for the younglings to run about and there are swings for them to play on. Pink Thatch is one big happy all round, book your stay today!
