Le Pisani, Axminster, Devon

Mediterranean food with a local influence, which is a good way of putting it. Maltese chef Ray Pisani takes his influence mostly from his homeland, but he understands English food and he likes to use as much local produce as he can get his hands on, from the fields and farms around Axminster and Seaton in Devon where his restaurants are. 
The menu has something for everyone, including vegetarians, vegans and those who follow a gluten free diet. They start off in the mornings with a cooked breakfasts and they serve cake and coffee all day. For lunch there’s quite a choice – sandwiches and ciabattas, jacket potatoes, homemade burgers, pasta, and classics like Peri Peri Chicken, Pork Loin, Ham, Egg & Chips, and Fish & Chips. In the evening the pasta remains, along with traditional Italian pizzas, a chargrill selection and some fish dishes to make your tastebuds dance with delight. The atmosphere is bright and airy by day, candlelit by night, with authentic bits and pieces that reflect the ethos of the food; staff are friendly and sometimes you know, it’s like you’re all one big happy family that Mr Pisani has invited round for dinner. A good place to go.
In the summer you’ll see people sat outside enjoying an ice cream from Joe Delucci’s Gelato; year round and they do a pasta and pizza takeaway service (The Italian Job) 7 days a week from 5.00pm-10.00pm.
