Jurston Barn - Accommodation
Dating back to the 17th century, Jurston Barn is a wonderful blend of rustic charm and up-to-date facilities, with all you need for your large group stay. It's so relaxing here, a sense of calm pervades throughout the house and it’s the perfect group accommodation no matter what time of year it is.
Once you're off the busier road a sun-dappled lane takes you to Jurston Barn. Park up and go in through the gate to the main entrance; floor to ceiling doors open into a huge open-plan kitchen/dining room, with a snug area at the end. Right in front of you is a long handcrafted dining table, and up above is a big glass roof that lets the day light pour in; by night this is quite a setting for celebration feasts; dine by the light of the moon and the twinkling stars. Note the chunky timbers and ceiling beams - some are 400 years old!
To the left is a laundry room, to the right is the bespoke kitchen with plenty of storage and room to prepare and cook a big slap-up dinner. If you're here to celebrate something special you might want to book one of our tried and tested professional caterers (see Extras) to come in and create a feast for you – a great way to mark that big birthday or milestone anniversary. The kitchen/dining room is a very sociable space and the whole ground floor is access friendly so no-one is going to be left out because they're in the kitchen slicing and dicing; you can all mingle together happily. Sing and dance, take five on the big fat corner sofas in the snug area, watch that all-important big match on the big TV.
Off to the right is the living room and games room, with a pool table and table football, so no doubt this will be where you'll find the kids hanging out (maybe a few of the Dads too!). Commodious sofas mean you can put your feet up and completely unwind, and if the weather's turned you can light the wood-burner and luxuriate in the warmth - an absolute delight to come back to after a country walk in autumn or winter. In the corner of the room, a staircase leads to a cosy snug area on the mezzanine; when the youngsters aren't up there with their games consoles plugged into the telly, this is a lovely spot for a quiet read. The mezzanine also doubles up as extra snooze space for 1 more guest (great for a teenager) at an additional charge.
There's snooze space on both floors, with 3 bedrooms downstairs and 3 upstairs, and what's great is that all beds are all zip and link so you can have them arranged as super kings or twins. To the left off the kitchen/dining room is Bedroom 1, with French doors to the rear courtyard, an ensuite bathroom that has a bath with an overhead shower and a built-in TV. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are either side of a small hallway at the back of the house; both are nice and roomy with ensuite wet rooms.
The main stairs at Jurston Barn lead from the dining area to a glass fronted balcony landing. Off to the left is Bedroom 4, with an ensuite bathroom that has a bath and an overhead shower, to the right is Bedroom 5, with an ensuite wet room, and Bedroom 6, which has its own shower room.
Outside is a landscaped garden with lawns and to the side, a fantastic play area with a chunky climbing frame, swings, a slide, and a trampoline. Right opposite the house is the timber-clad pool hall where on warmer days you can open the full height doors to let the sunshine roll in; just outside on the patio is the hot tub.
The patio is quite a suntrap, so sit out there and enjoy the good weather; have afternoon tea or a barbecue, and really take your time over it; an unhurried meal with friends and family is surely one of the best pleasures in life. But that's what Jurston Barn is all about, life's pleasures; special times spent with your nearest and dearest, happy memories to take home. Come and stay, come and unwind. Book today!
