Clearwell Caves, Gloucestershire

These atmospheric caves in the Forest of Dean are well worth a visit. Iron ore was mined here for over 2,000 years, until 1945, and artist’s pigments have been produced here for over 4,500 years! The caves offer displays and workshops, with guided tours available and activities such as deep level caving, for the more daring! There’s a fascinating museum and a gift shop and café – a great all round experience.

Open 7 days a week  Feb-Sept  10.00am-5.00pm         Sept/Oct 10.00am-4.00pm
