Dorothy’s Tea Room, Hinton St George, Somerset

What used to be the Post Office in the quintessential Somerset village of Hinton St George is now a very charming tea room that draws visitors from near and far. For nearly 30 years now they’ve served countless pots of tea, thousands of scones and who knows how many slices of cake. Go for a late breakfast of freshly baked croissants washed down with coffee made from 100% rainforest alliance certified beans, or have a relaxed lunch there – sandwiches, paninis, soups, baked potatoes, pies and quiche – all homemade or locally sourced, as it should be. It’s all lovely and fresh and friendly inside and they use the prettiest china. Whilst you’re there if you have a browse around on the shelves and dresser you’ll find a little something to buy and take home with you, a little momento of what has to be one of the loveliest tea rooms around.
