Beaverbrook Barn - Access Statement:
Beaverbrook Barn is an amazing conversion of 16th,17th and 18th century natural stone barns into extremely spacious, luxury self-catering accommodation. Graded 5 star Exceptional by Sleeps12 in line with our Quality Assurance process.
Pre Arrival: We have directions by road in the check-in information provided 4 weeks before your arrival (once a booking has been made). You can view the gallery of all photographs on the Sleeps12 website. Bookings can be made online or by calling Sleeps12 on 01823 665500.

Buses: The nearest bus station is at Taunton, approximately 12 miles away. Buses run from Taunton to Chard or Ilminster, which are both within 4 miles. Taxis are readily available from Chard and Ilminster town centres.
Trains: There is a train station at Taunton, approximately 12 miles away (for trains from Paddington). There is also a train station at Crewkerne, roughly 8 miles distant (for trains from Waterloo). Taxis are available from both stations.
Groceries: On line groceries can be delivered by Tesco, Sainburys, Asda, Morrisons or Waitrose by pre ordering on line.
Arrival and car parking: There is a purpose built, 20 vehicle tarmac car park with plenty of turning space adjacent to the road. This is signed Beaverbrook Barn. There are double gates whihc give access to drop off points at the entrance to Beaverbrook Barns.
From the car parking area there is a gentle rising paved pathway 1.5 meters wide, fully lit during the evening hours. This takes you to the first of two courtyards through an access gate.
All internal doorsways are 800mm.
The Tie-Stalls, is a single storey stone barn with 6 bedrooms (numbered 5 to 10) and en suite bathrooms with showers. The Tie-Stalls are not suitable for disabled access, as there are two steps to negotiate as you enter the lobbies.
All internal paths are again lit during evening hours and connect to the main Granary Barn. The Granary Barn ground floor is level throughout. Bedrooms 1 to 4 are on this floor.
All showers are walk-in with glass screens and overhead drench heads.
There are wall lights and downlights throughout the property.
Bedroom 1 sleeps up to 5 people so is good as a family room; the entrance door is 11000mm and there is a huge walk in wet room, with shower and bath facilities. We are able to supply a shower chair but this must be requested on the equipment section of your booking.
Bedroom 2 also has an en suite with both bath and shower.
Bedrooms 3 and 4 have shower only en suites.
All bathrooms include a comfort height WC and heated towel rails.
The Granary Barn ground floor also has a huge open plan living area. Two 9 x 1.2 metre oak tables seat 30 people comfortably. To one end is a spacious kitchen with a central Island topped with Sensa Orinoco Granite, and with an inset 5 ring induction hob. The kitchen has 3 combi ovens, 3 fan assisted ovens and 3 warming drawers, as well as a fridge/ freezer with ice maker, 2 additional fridges within the island, 3 dishwashers, 2 stainless steel sinks, and plenty of storage cupboards. A granite breakfast bar with 4 high stools offers plenty of interaction with those preparing meals.
At the other end of the huge open plan living space, is a snug area. There are colourful sofas and chairs and one of the property's 13 TVs with full Sky package.
The first floor is accessed via a 1.5m commercial staircase. To the left is a cinema room with remote controlled projector wiht pul down screen,15 metres of sofa and comfortable stools, and a traditional ham stone fireplace with an inset contemporary electric fire.
To the right of the staircase is a well-equipped games room with an 8 foot American pool table, a 7 foot air hockey table, table tennis and table football; to one end is a sink, dishwasher and fridge. This room also has bean bag style seats and 3 Bluetooth sound systems as well as a Sky package and BT Sports.
Leading off the kitchen via a stable door, a corridor takes you to the Spa Hall, all on the same level. The entrance door is self-closing, and can be locked (high level sliding bolt and lock) if necessary. The swimming pool measures 10 x 5 metres with a constant depth of 1.2metres and is heated to a comfortable 30 degrees. Corner steps allow for easy access. There is plenty of room around the pool, with anti-slip tiles for safe pedestrian use, and 8 loungers for relaxation. There is a wall mounted shower for use before and after swimming or using the 3m wide sunken hot tub which is next to the pool. The hot tub has a hand rail for safe entry and exit, is constantly heated to 37 degrees, and can seat up to 10 people.
Both the pool and hot tub have internal LED lighting, for evening use, with the Spa Hall also benefitting from emergency lighting in the event of a power failure. Right at the end of the Spa Hall is a glass fronted sauna measuring 2.2m x 2.5m with two benches that can accommodate 8 people at a time. Note that all children using the spa hall MUST BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES.
To the rear of the Granary Barn, via two large French doors, is a second courtyard with high walls of old brick. There is a large patio area, with solid timber tables and benches, and a gas BBQ (gas supplied) for use from Easter to October. In addition, a 17m2 Scandinavian style BBQ Lodge, big enough to seat 30 people, surrounded by landscaped artificial lawns, can be used year round. Charcoal is provided for this.
On the artificial lawn is a child’s wooden play train for climbing and exploring; in the corner of the patio is a large rattan furniture set with cushions.
