Angers Castle, Angers, France

History abounds. Originally built as a fortress in the 9th century and expanded in the 13th century, Angers Castle was part of the empire of the Plantagenet Kings of England in the 12th century. Right on the River Maine, it houses the famous Apocalypse tapestry and has no less than 17 towers. You must go and visit if you're staying nearby at Chateau La Chuteliere.
