Reasons to Visit Somerset

Make a great decision and choose to holiday in Somerset this year. Glorious coastline, scrumptious cider and cultural treats you'll fall in love with this diverse County instantly.

Being based in Somerset we may be biased but we LOVE Somerset and all it offers which is why we started Sleeps12! Yes, really - we could see how others would holiday here and fall in love with it's stunning scenery and relaxed way of life or its cosmopolitan lifestyle in Cities like Bath (shown above) or Bristol. Many of our Sleeps12 properties are in Somerset and take advantage of all the wonderful things on the doorstep just crying out to be discovered.

Dunster Castle

Standing majestic on the slopes of a wooded hill, this castle has overlooked the vista since Norman times. Standing proud over the gorgeous and quaint Dunster Village this National Trust property is on the 'must visit' list. Sub-tropical gardens surround the castle and there is much to do to keep everyone happy all year round. Stroll the gardens before going back to swim in one of the wonderful pools we have in our houses.

Glastonbury Tor

Mythical legends surround this ancient Tor. Take a stroll to the very top and experience a view like no other, on a good day you can even see Dorset, Wiltshire and Wales. It has had a grisly past with executions and is considered to be one of the most spiritual places in the country. You'll be chilled out after a day at Glastonbury Tor so we'd recommend a property with a hot tub to continue the relaxation process!

No trip to Somerset is complete without paying homage to the home of Cider. Many orchards welcome visitors and will show you around the orchards and may even allow you to help with the picking! We recommend visiting the on-site shop and supporting a local business. While the nearest orchard to your property may not allow visitors they will probably have a 'farm gate' style shop. Buy the lot - holidays are time to indulge after all!! Why not book a property large enough to accommodate all your friends and family and make the most of your stay with a picnic and party?

West Somerset Railway

Even rail weary commuters will appreciate the old elegance of the steam engine and appreciate its majestic meandering through the Somerset countryside. Catch the West Somerset Railway at Bishops Lydeard and take the regal mode of transport all the way to Minehead where you can stop for an ice cream, a walk along the beach and even a paddle in the sea (if it's warm enough). Fun for all the family and a treat not to be missed. Close to many of our lodges this is a great choice of activity.

Our amazing Sleeps12 properties are the perfect choice for a break in 2017. So, if you're looking for a short break this year or a longer visit during a school holiday we have something that is right up your Street (yes, that's a play on words - Street is a town in Somerset and very near to Glastonbury actually!!!). Search our range of propeties with spa facilities, enclosed gardens or our dog friendly properties
