Big things are going on at Pitmaston House and from September 2021 this beautiful Worcester town house will provide luxury group accommodation for up to 26 people. It currently sleeps 14 in 7 en suite bedrooms with room for 2 more at an extra charge per person – autumn sees the addition of a ground floor en suite bedroom, extra beds for 10 (charged), a humongous drawing room, a games room and large utility room. Perfect for those big family holidays and significant celebrations!
Pitmaston House was built in Georgian times and was once an ornamental nursery where hybrid fruits were grown, including the famous Pitmaston Pear. These days it’s got an equally good reputation as a top notch holiday house that will be even more impressive a few months down the line when it will offer luxury group accommodation for up to 26 people. To look at it’s nothing short of gorgeous, set back off the road in large grounds, Regency Gothic style with ornate cornices, a stone arched entrance, castellations and turrets; it’s very grand to say the least. Inside there’s a wealth of original features like soaring Corinthian columns, vaulted ceilings and decorative plasterwork. A certain calmness pervades the whole house, it’s very spacious, light and airy and it makes the perfect backdrop to large group family holidays and weekends away.
The décor is sumptuous and inviting; plush velvet sofas and chairs, colourful rugs, eclectic artworks and accessories. To the left of the hall is the conservatory, a vast open plan living space that will be revamped to become an all-singing-all-dancing kitchen to one side and to the other there'll be a bespoke dining table that extends to comfortably seat 26 people. Imagine those celebration feasts, the people you love all in fine voice singing Happy Birthday! This room is approached via a reception room that will become a big utility room with heaps of storage, an extra fridge and freezer (plenty of room for fizz and cake), laundry facilities and ‘boot space’ – so when you come back from an exhilarating day spent exploring the glorious Malvern Hills you can hang up your coats, kick off your boots and go through to the light flooded kitchen/dining room for drinks to welcome in the evening.
Next to the kitchen, the existing sitting room will be given a new lease of life as a snug/cinema room, somewhere to snuggle up with a big bowl of popcorn, eyes a-goggle at the latest action packed movie, or tissues to hand, watching a good old fashioned romantic weepie. Over to the right of the hall the chaps are hard at work behind the scenes opening out a stunner of a drawing room; expect wow factor by the barrel load because that’s what you’re going to get. There are double height ceilings, a huge (almost 6ft high) fireplace, and above it, a big screen TV; take your pick of where to sit comfy – there’s plenty of choice. A mezzanine floor designed as a lounge for the younger folk will no doubt attract kids of all ages; they’ll love it up there lounging about on bean bags, not a care in the world.
Hidden in the wall of the drawing room is a ‘secret’ doorway that takes you through to the games room, new to Pitmaston House from September 2021. This is another big room and a seriously cool place to hang out. There will be a pool table, air hockey and table football, a TV, and even the luxury of a mini kitchen so you can easily rustle up a humdinger of a pizza or nachos without having to traverse the house to the kitchen.
Opposite the games room you’ll find Bedroom 8 and its en suite shower room; zip and link beds sleep 2 in a superking or twins and there’s room for two extra beds – so absolutely brilliant for a family of four. It’s not the only room in the house like that though, this is why this luxury group accommodation for up to 26 people is hard to beat for family holidays and get togethers, whether you’re two or three, or even four generations, or a few young families. The option of those 10 extra beds makes all the difference as it means that out of the 8 en suite bedrooms 4 will be able to accommodate up to 4 people and 2 will sleep up to 3, so parents and kids can share a room, or if you’ve got older children they can all bunk down together. You can see the layout for the house and the extra beds on the floorplans.
Outside will still be as terrific as ever at Pitmaston House; there’s a 4m swim spa/hot tub, a sunken trampoline, outdoor table tennis and a pool table, and for the fitness conscious, an outdoor gym with cardio equipment and weights. So there’s plenty to keep you all occupied before you get together in the outdoor dining pavilion for a fabulous alfresco feast; there’s a barbecue, pizza oven and firepit, a TV, and hundreds of lovely twinkly lights. Bring it on, we say, bring it on!
You might be perfectly happy to spend days and nights just chillin’ and relaxing at Pitmaston House, with so much to keep you happy, young and old alike, but if you want to venture out you’ll find heaps to do in the area. There are several great places to visit – Worcester Cathedral, Greyfriars House & Gardens, The West Midland Safari Park, or head off for a day out in Stratford-Upon-Avon or pootling around the quintessential Cotswolds. Happy days are coming folks, book today!
