Happy New Year Folks! We hope you all enjoyed the festive season and are looking forward to a very positive 2018, even if your waistbands are a little tighter and you’re feeling the need for fresh air and exercise!
At Sleeps12 we’re now coming into our busiest time of year; it’s cold out there, the nights are long and the days are short but what seems like distant dreams of summer are closer than you think and our properties are getting booked up thick and fast, so get yourself nice and cosy with your large group holiday list, and have a look through the fabulous luxury self-catering accommodation we have in the UK. Maybe you’ve got something really worth celebrating this year – a big birthday, a forthcoming wedding, an engagement, a promotion, or a reunion of some sort. Maybe you’re planning a big holiday with your closest friends and family and need somewhere truly awesome to stay; or you might be looking for something different for corporate hospitality or away days. We’ve got it all covered no matter what you’ve got in mind – luxurious lodges, lovingly converted barns, gorgeous country houses, and rambling old farmsteads, and nearly all of them are set amidst peaceful green pastures and wooded hillsides. Nearby you’ll find beaches to stroll along, quaint market towns to browse, a myriad of family attractions, and some inspiring historic houses and lush gardens to amble round.
If you’re looking for a shorter break take advantage of the 2 and 3 night weekends we offer, or opt for a 4 night midweek stay. If your big group is seriously busy celebrating or just loving being together you may not have much time for exploring the local area, but fear not because Sleeps12 properties have plenty to keep you all amused, whatever your ages and whatever the time of year. We've got swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, and games rooms; there’s lawns to frolic on, robust play equipment for the little people, and sumptuously cosy Scandinavian style BBQ huts. Fun, fun, fun!
For larger groups check out Bossington Hall; high on a hill overlooking Porlock Bay, this wisteria-clad Edwardian gentleman’s house sleeps 30 and has the most gorgeous setting with a backdrop of dense woodland and the heather clad hilltops of Exmoor National Park. Go boating on the little lake, play cricket in the meadow, and after a game of tennis on the hard court retire to the shade of the thatched pavilion for lemonade. Down a long winding lane in South Somerset you’ll find Beaverbrook 30; centuries old farm barns have been caringly converted and it’s massive! A huge open plan living/entertaining space, indoor pool, spa hall and games room. Relax in the high walled garden, snuggle in the BBQ lodge, stroll across the fields to the pub. Book it for 20 or 30 people. At the foot of the unspoilt Quantock Hills, The Granary and Barns sleep 44 guests as a whole, but you can book a break for 18 at The Granary or up to 24 at Quantock Barns.
If you want country house go for Berry House on the edge of Exmoor; sit beneath the twisting branches of wisteria and let the heavenly fragrance tickle your senses as you gaze out over miles and miles of unspoilt countryside. Perched on a hill with views of the sea The Old Rectory is close to the Quantock Hills where you’re never far from good walking country and a rustic inn; for old farmsteads there’s newly converted Pound Farm, and Hurstone on the edge of Exmoor. Enjoy an idyllic country holiday with your large group at Ilbeare, Halse Water House, Culmbridge House, Cobbleside, Millgrove House, or Wayside; you’ll find quiet lanes, rolling hills, wooded hillsides and deep valleys.
Take your big group off for a break at one of our luxury lodges. Flossy Brook sits in an old meadow on the Blackdown Hills; Ham Bottom and Fuzzy Orchard are tucked away not far from Exmoor, whilst Crowcombe, Thorncombe, Ramscombe, Foxcombe and Cockercombe are snuggled deep in Quantock country.
Holemoor Stables shares the layout of a Roman villa and has been sympathetically converted from old farm buildings and stables where racehorses were bred; once part of working farms, Jurston Barn, Coat Barn and Foxhill Lodge have been transformed from ancient barns to stunning holiday accommodation. Walnut Arbour was used to store withies grown for basket making on the beautiful Somerset Levels, and just down the road is Riverside, formerly two workers cottages right on the banks of the River Tone with a glorious outlook across the moors.
Closer to the centre of the UK you’ll find Whitehaven and Viney Hill Country House in the expansive Forest of Dean, with heaps to see and do, and miles of wonderful countryside ripe for exploring. The Benches sits on the banks of the River Wye in Monmouthshire, and if you fancy somewhere close to the city take a look at Pitmaston House in Worcester, or Henfield Barn near Bristol.
Whatever you want, our amazing properties have all you need for a memorable large group stay; take your pick and use our availability calendar to book it now, or give us a call – we’re here to help.
