Built in 2004 amidst the verdant green pastures of the Somerset countryside, Wayside is bursting with modern luxury and offers heaps of space for any large group stay.
The property was built with elements of traditional country house design incorporated into its red-brick and slate roof exterior. Beneath this is a contemporary interior of glass doors, maple flooring with underfloor heating throughout, double-glazed oak framed windows, and thoughtful touches like the halogen downlighters and light wells to add ambience. With secure gated access, Wayside has ample opportunity to admire the far reaching views across the beautiful Culm Valley and into the heart of the Blackdown Hills.
Besides all that, Wayside is a terrific base for exploring the local area and beyond. Spending time on the scenic Blackdown Hills is like stepping back in time; an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, these peaceful hills which lie on the border of Devon and Somerset, have survived almost unscathed by post-war development. This is a land of windswept plateaus, rolling hills and wooded valleys, dotted with picturesque hamlets and villages where you'll find some charming country inns to stop for a quiet drink or a lazy pub lunch. The nearby county town of Taunton has a range of big name and independent shops and eateries, and a little further afield are the Somerset beaches, or in the other direction, the world renowned Jurassic Coast. Colourful Glastonbury with its famous festival and its Tor is within easy reach, as is Wells with its splendid cathedral and enchanting Bishops Palace. Add to that a plethora of historic houses and gardens and designated atttractions and there's something for everyone!
