In its former existence, Walnut Arbour was a collection of centuries old barns used for storing willow grown for the basket making trade which still continues in this part of Somerset. It has seen a remarkable transformation into a stylish and spacious property which offers luxury holiday accommodation for up to 12 people in 6 bedrooms. With a light and airy games room, private indoor pool, outdoor hot tub and indulgent sauna, you're sure to have a truly relaxing stay.
Walnut Arbour is a detached property sitting in the tiny hamlet of Curload, just outside the village of Stoke St Gregory on the magical Somerset Levels. In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the county town of Taunton is only a few miles away and there is good access to the M5 motorway (J24). The Somerset Levels are a unique and time honoured area of the West Country; with a beauty entirely of its own, the region is renowned for its picturesque wetlands and abundance of wildlife. You can walk for miles in the glorious countryside, but take your binoculars because you never know what you might spot - it's a bird watcher's paradise, with cranes recently being re-introduced to the area, and if you're lucky you can watch otters feeding on one of the many waterways.
Take your time and potter around the narrow lanes and explore some of the little villages; you might be tempted to stop off for a pint of the local brew or a laid back lunch in a country inn. Stretch your legs with a climb to the top of Burrow Mump, or Glastonbury Tor, followed by a stroll around this colourful town with unusual shops and a range of eateries. Or head to Clarks' Village at Street for some retail therapy; if you fancy a day out at the beach you can get there in under an hour. Try Weston Super Mare on the North Somerset coast for some bucket and spade fun and a stroll along the pier, pretty Lyme Regis on the Jurassic Coast, or regency Sidmouth a little further along in East Devon. For city delights Bath and Bristol are both within easy reach and have heaps to see and do.
