The Benches is a luxuriously spacious, bright and airy Italianette villa; the decor is undeniably attractive, with furnishings that really suit the property. There's a warm and welcoming feel, with oak parquet flooring giving a warm ambience throughout the ground floor, with the exception of the kitchen/dining room where stone tiles are more practical. Wood-burning stoves in the lounge, games room and dining room make it snug and cosy in the chillier months.

The kitchen/diner is ultra-swish and stylish, with an eye catching scarlet central island; patio doors lead out to a covered verandah and onto a stone terrace and the outdoor pool. From here the views over the river and the valley beyond are breathtaking.

The kitchen is a very sociable space, and you'll find it's full of up-to-the-minute conveniences; there's a 4-oven electric Aga with 2 hotplates, as well as a large gas hob, a built-in Neff oven, and a microwave. You'll find there's plenty of room in the walk-in pantry and there's the usual dishwasher, fridge-freezer and separate fridge, plus a dedicated bottle cooler! Wander through to the dining room where a custom built table seats all, so you can eat together and enjoy the delightful outlook over the grounds.

French doors lead from the dining room out onto a sunny patio; opposite this is a summer house where you can play table football, and do your laundry! Or you can step into the Scandanavian style 4-person sauna ... and relax.

Next to the kitchen, a spacious hallway doubles up as a games room with a funky red pool table. A corner fireplace houses a contemporary style wood-burning stove for extra warmth should you need it, and a a quirky staircase takes you to the first floor.

Continue through the games room to the lounge - a wonderfully homely room with plenty of sofas and chairs to curl up on, a big TV, and a wood-burning stove set into a feature exposed brick fireplace, typical of the Arts & Crafts style.

The whole of the first floor is carpeted so it's warm and cosy underfoot. Bedroom 1 is lovely; a light and airy double aspect room with a superking size bed and an ensuite bathroom where you can lie back in a tub full of bubbles and take in the spectacular views across the valley. Decadent!

Bedroom 2 is also capacious, light and airy, with the option of a superking or twin beds, whichever you want. The ensuite for this room also has a double ended, freestanding bath where you can relax and dream a little whilst you gaze out over the garden...

Bedroom 3 has a blend of more modern and period styles, with a kingsize bed and the luxury of an ensuite shower room.

Bedroom 4 is a smaller room with an ensuite shower room. There's a double bed and the bonus of a balcony, so you can step outside in the morning, take a breath of fresh air and admire the far reaching views over the River Wye; what a way to start the day! On a balmy summers evening leave the door open and let the gentle night breeze float in as you drift off to sleep.

Bedroom 5 is on the ground floor, just off the kitchen; another very comfortable room with zip and link beds and an ensuite shower room.

Just outside the kitchen, the covered veranda leads to a large terrace where there's a  big bubbly hot tub, and a 10 x 4m outdoor pool (with a constant depth of 4ft). You don't need us to tell you how blissful it is to unwind out there - with that spectacular view over the river to the distant hills!

The self-contained Riverview Annex is perfect for grandparents on a family holiday, or for people who like to have their own space away from the crowd now and then. Full length windows let the light flood in and it's mesmerising to sit here and watch the river go by. The Annex has all you need - a double bed, an ensuite wet room, and a small kitchenette.

Above the annex is a private decked terrace; sit there with a drink or two, have breakfast or lunch out here, or a BBQ. With the backdrop of the River Wye  it really is the perfect spot for it.

Wander at leisure around the acre of gardens, lawns and apple orchard, or let the younger ones explore, and they can while away the hours on the chunky play equipment. With everything The Benches has to offer we'd understand perfectly if you wanted to spend every minute of your stay here.
