Access Statement

Jurston Barn is a sympathetically renovated 400 year old cob built listed barn offering spacious and luxurious accommodation.

Pre Arrival: We have a detailed website (www.sleeps12.com) giving directions by road. Bookings can be made online or by phone. On the website, you can view a gallery of all our photographs.

Buses: The nearest bus station is at Taunton – 8 miles away

Buses run from Taunton to Wellington, which is our nearest town and is just 1 mile away.

Taxis are readily available from the centre of Wellington.

Trains: The nearest train station is at Taunton – 8 miles away. Taxis are readily available here

There is also a train station at Tiverton Parkway – 10 miles away. Taxis are readily available here

Groceries: can be delivered by Waitrose, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys & Cook by pre-ordering online.

Arrival and Car Parking:

From the road there is a 1/2 mile lane leading to a large parking and turning area. It is possible to get a vehicle right up to the gate, which is 15m from the front door.

From the car park area to the front door there is a gentle slope with a 1m square paved area before the front door. There is a 5mm threshold through an 800mm doorway directly into the downstairs games room and lounge area (15m x 7m). This room has a large flat screen TV, iPod dock, pool table, table football, a 6-seater sofa, two further 5-seater sofas and a woodburning stove.

The ground floor is level throughout with all stone flooring. There is a pair of French doors (1.6m wide with 200mm step) from the games room to the rear garden. In the rear garden there is a seating area, which is accessed via three steps up.

From the games room, an oak staircase leads to the mezzanine floor. This staircase has an open tread with risers of 200mm and 12 steps with a quarter turn at the bottom.  The mezzanine floor is 7 x 4m and is confined with a glass fronted bannister. There is a large screen TV , a 3 seater sofa and 3 bean bags to sit on.

Off the games room, through 800mm double doors, is a large L-shaped open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area (14m x 14m at its widest). The lounge part of the open plan area has two 5-seater sofas, two 2-seater sofas, a padded stool, a large flat screen TV, a Blu-Ray player and a Sky box. There are various lighting options.

The dining area has a very large table, which comfortably accommodates 14 people. There is also a sideboard, containing holiday literature.

The kitchen area is open plan. There is a central, movable island with 4 waste/recycling bins.  There is an induction hob and two fan assisted ovens, a grill, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, 2 dishwashers, 2 sinks, a large larder cupboard and lots of storage. There is also a fixed breakfast bar with 2 stools and a storage box with seating for 2/3 people.  Next to the kitchen are double doors (1600mm with 200mm step) out to the front garden and pool house.

Off the open plan area are three downstairs en suite bedrooms, all with 800mm doorways. Two of these bedrooms have walk in wet rooms accessed through 800mm doorways.  The other has a bathroom accessed through an 800mm doorway. All bedrooms are in the region of 25m2. The wet rooms are 1.1m x 5m  and the bathroom is 3m x 3m.  Both the wet rooms and the bathroom are fully tiled throughout with toilets at 420mm high.

From the dining room part of the open plan area you can access the laundry room and downstairs toilet. There is a washer, a dryer and ironing facilities.

The first floor is accessed via an oak staircase off the dining area. This staircase has an open tread with risers of 200mm. The staircase is 800mm wide with twin handrails. The first floor has level oak flooring throughout. There are three en suite bedrooms, two with wet rooms and one with a bathroom. The bathroom is 3m x 3m. The middle wet room is 1.2m x 5m and the right hand wet room is 2.5m x 2.5m. Again, all bedrooms are in the region of 25m2.

All bath/shower rooms are completely tiled and the toilets are 420mm high. The sinks are 900mm high. There are low level shower attachments as well as high level. The 2 baths are 600mm high.

From the double doors off the dining room, you can access the pool and hot tub, and the main entrance gate and the gate leading to the waste/recycling area.

The pool, hot tub and main gate are all accessed by going up 3 x 200mm steps.  To get to the pool go up the steps and across the grass (5m) to the pool house.  The pool is 11m x 5m and has a constant depth of 1.20m. There is an area around two sides of the pool for people to sit, with some seating provided. The steps at the corner of the pool are 200mm deep and allow easy access into the pool. Off the pool room, via swing doors (1200mm wide) is a changing area with bench seating, hooks for hanging clothes and a shower, sink and a separate room with a toilet (420mm high)

Outside the pool room, towards the house is a sunken hot tub with heavy duty insulating cover. The hot tub can accommodate 10 adults.

Outside, in the front garden, there is a lawned area with children’s climbing equipment and a large netted trampoline. Back down the steps toward the house, is a large patio area with garden furniture for 12/14 people and a gas a barbecue with a cover.
