The property has undergone extensive refurbishment in recent years, resulting in a luxurious blend of original character and country house charm with the best of modern day conveniences. Accommodating 14 people in 5 bedrooms, Ilbeare enjoys a peaceful rural location that's absolutely perfect for a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of urban life.
Ilbeare has all you need for a happy extended family holiday; bring uncles and aunts, cousins and grandparents; a generously sized hot tub and an enchanting Nordic style BBQ lodge give you plenty of opportunity for unwinding and spending quality time together in these tranquil surroundings. Easily accessible from major routes, the property sits amidst a patchwork of fields, yet is only a few miles from the Somerset county town of Taunton. Taunton has a variety of high street and independent shops and eateries, several supermarkets, a cinema, sports clubs, a bowling alley, theatres and a traditional town park.
Right on your doorstep is a network of little footpaths and bridleways for exploring the beautiful Somerset countryside, and within a few miles are the scenic Quantock Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; pack a family picnic and head for one of the vantage points, or pootle about the narrow winding lanes to wind up at a charming watering hole where you can enjoy a laid back pub lunch. Venture further afield and you'll find some wonderfully diverse beaches on the Somerset coast - some are more traditional for good old fashioned seaside fun, some are quiet, and some are wild and have a very unique beauty - like Kilve, which has a landscape entirely of it's own, marvellous for rockpools. Within about an hours' drive is the famous Jurassic Coast - great for fossil hunting,or for a visit to the picturesque fishing town of Lyme Regis. Head out to the magical Somerset Levels for the day, walk along the ancient rhynes (REENS), spot wildlife on one of the many nature reserves, or climb to the top of Glastonbury Tor to be rewarded with amazing panoramic views. Potter down to Tiverton for a stroll along the canal, or hire a rowing boat to take out on the waterway. You won't be short of things to do whilst enjoying a group stay at Ilbeare.
