Just quarter of a mile from the picturesque Somerset hamlet of Waterrow, this fine country house dates back to the 14th century, though was largely rebuilt in the 1920's. It sits in a stunning location with breath taking views across the valley from the main reception rooms, and from all bedrooms but one. You can sit on the terrace overlooking the lawns and gaze out over 60 acres of glorious farmland with ponds and lush water meadows where sheep graze.
Inside, the house is spacious, comfortable and homely. The hall leads into a large dining room where there is plenty of room for up to 14 to sit around the lovely wooden dining table in front of the French doors which lead out onto the patio. The room has a delightful small inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove for extra warmth in the winter months. Beyond the dining room is the kitchen, and then the utility room. The kitchen is practical and has everything you need to cook up a fabulous celebratory feast.
Adjoining the dining room is the games room which has an open fireplace and a half-size snooker table. You might well find yourself pausing between shots to take in the stunning views!
On the other side of the hall, is a beamed ‘snug’ sitting room with a large inglenook fireplace housing a traditional style woodburning stove. A great room to gather round the piano for a post dinner sing song!
Beyond the snug is a much bigger drawing room with underfloor heating to keep the slate floor warm and toasty. An open fire at one end gives extra warmth when needed, and there are good sized windows so you can admire those impressive views across the valley.
Also downstairs is a shower room and access to the garden and hot tub area.
A wide staircase off the main hallway takes you to the bedrooms...
Off a long corridor landing are six spacious bedrooms, all with gorgeous scenic views. Three of the doubles and one twin all have en suite bathrooms (suites plus bath-showers); another smaller double (4’ bed) and one twin bedroom at the front of the house, share a bathroom (suite plus bath-shower).
