Hurstone is a charming country house set in a beautiful location on the edge of Exmoor National Park; surrounded by the most breathtaking countryside, this was originally an ancient farmhouse - the oldest part of it dates back to the 14th century. Over the years Hurstone has been sympathetically restored and improved to become what it is today - a spacious and charming self catering holiday home with all the mod cons you need for a relaxing stay. The house sleeps 14/16 people in 7 bedrooms, with 5 bathrooms; most of the rooms are south facing, taking in those far reaching views.

Set amidst rolling hills and verdant pastures, Hurstone enjoys a tranquil and picturesque setting, yet London is only 3 hours  by road and less than 2 hours by train. There's much to see and do in the local area - for starters there's all that glorious countryside to explore - right from your doorstep! A network of tiny footpaths and bridleways will take you up and down the hills, through ancient copses, across open fields, and who knows - you might find yourself at a lovely country inn where you can tuck into a leisurely pub lunch, or sample the local brew. You could pack a picnic (with lashings of lemonade, of course!) and head to Exmoor for the day; you'll find a diversity of scenery - wild wind blown moors, rugged heaths where Exmoor ponies roam free, steep cliff tops, and wooded coombes. Go to Watersmeet for a stroll along the river, to historic Tarr Steps, or the awesome Valley of Rocks at Lynton. If you venture over to the North Somerset coast you'll find some quiet and varied beaches - Kilve beach is great for fossil hunting, and nearby is the pretty village of Dunster with it's spectacular castle (NT).

If you fancy some retail therapy, head to the Somerset county town of Taunton, with it's range of high street and independent shops and eateries, or to Clarks Village on the edge of the Somerset Levels. If you crave the excitement of a city, Bath and Bristol are within easy reach and both offer plenty of sightseeing opportunities. Whatever you choose to do, at the end of a wonderful day out you can get back to Hurstone, shut the world outside the door and just relax and enjoy the breath taking views of the rolling landscape.

Hurstone offers the perfect place for a getaway come rain or shine, with it's warm and cosy ambience, open fires, comfy rooms, central heating, and the whole gorgeous homely feel. In warmer months you can idle the hours away in the garden; there's a delightful summerhouse - so quiet that all you'll hear is the birdsong (a perfect writer's retreat!). At night you can have a relaxing time in the hot tub, a sky full of stars above you, or enjoy a few drinks and chit-chat on the terrace until the small hours.

Hurstone is ideal for short breaks or for longer holidays throughout the year. It's an amazing place for family get-togethers, exciting re-unions, large group holidays, and for all manner of happy celebrations - birthdays, anniversaries, hen nights - you'll love it!
