Berry House is a beautiful Georgian property enjoying an idyllic location overlooking the scenic Batherm Valley on the edge of Exmoor. Here, traditional country house ambience blends perfectly with luxurious modern convenience to provide a stunning setting for any gathering of friends and family, be it a short break or a longer holiday.
We'll excuse you if you have a little 'Downton Abbey' moment - it's perfectly understandable when you go up the sweeping driveway, past the pretty gatehouse through typically English parkland and on through a pillared entrance, and along the top of the ha-ha. You might swoon at your first sighting of Berry House and its impressive Georgian frontage, and you'll love it even more when you get inside and find a lovely big kitchen, a grand dining room, sumptuous bedrooms - plus a games room and a fantastic indoor heated pool in its own building.
From the timber-clad pool house you can step out onto a lovely terrace overlooking a fenced pond, and down into one of the most beautiful valleys in the whole of Devon. What better spot to idle some time away, or to enjoy a barbecue in such tranquil surroundings? The surrounding countryside is breath taking, with a network of footpaths offering plenty of opportunity to walk through the fields and woods, or wander the hills. You might pootle about the narrow lanes and wind up at some quaint watering hole for a laid back pub lunch and a pint of the local ale. Only a few miles away is the varied landscape of Exmoor National Park, with plunging cliffs, steep wooded valleys and rugged moors where wild ponies roam free.
If you fancy a mooch round the local towns, there's nearby Tiverton, or the county town of Taunton, with its traditional municipal park, a variety of shops and eateries, and a fascinating museum. The little town of Dulverton is perfect for a leisurely afternoon, perhaps browsing in the bookshop or enjoying a cream tea in one of the charming tea shops. The North Somerset coast is within easy reach, for some good old fashioned seaside fun, or about an hour away is the glorious Jurassic coast - great for fossil hunting and mackerel fishing trips. Heaps to see and do - and stunning Berry House to come home to; the perfect holiday!
