West Bagborough, Somerset
This tiny village lies 5 miles north of the county town of Taunton, on the southwest slopes of the beautiful Quantock Hills. Many of the houses and cottages are made of the local red sandstone, and there’s a lovely 16th century pub called The Rising Sun. Walk up to Lydeard Hill for spectacular views of Taunton Deane and the Blackdown Hills; on a clear day you can see across to Exmoor. Take one of the little footpaths out into the fields, stretch your legs and fill your lungs with fresh country air.
