Martock, Somerset

Right on the edge of the Somerset Levels, Martock is a big village with a big heart. A vibrant, friendly community with shops that include a butchers, a bakers, a florist, a newsagent, and a small supermarket; there's also, post office, library, art gallery, vet, opticians, doctors surgery, and pharmacy, so pretty much everything you need really.  If you’re strolling about this attractive hamstone village pop into the parish church and have a look at the carved tie beam roof in the nave; browse around the architectural salvage yard, visit the Treasurer’s House (NT) and go wildlife spotting at Town Tree Nature Garden. If you fancy exploring, there are almost 40 footpaths in and around Martock, and it’s on the River Parrett Trail, stretching from the Dorset Hills to the Bristol Channel. Try The White Hart or the The Nags Head should you come over a little peckish, and if you have little people to amuse, take them to the recreation ground where there's a fantastic play area.
