Bleadon, Somerset

This is a rather pretty village lying at the western fringes of Somerset’s Mendip Hills, set in beautiful countryside rich in flora and fauna, with some utterly gorgeous far reaching views across the landscape and a backdrop of steeply rising slopes. If you stop here for lunch or are passing through whilst on your walking break or family holiday in Somerset, have a wander, it’s lovely. It’s a thriving community with a shop and post office, two garages, a hairdressers, three pubs, and near the village hall, a play area and a car park. Lots of footpaths lead from the village - for walks of all lengths along the River Axe or up into the hills.

Interesting point: ‘Bleadon Man’ who died over 2,000 years ago was discovered during an archaeological dig here.
