Barrington Court, Somerset

Visit this beautiful 16th century manor house where Wolf Hall was filmed, and admire the tudor architecture and treasures within; the glorious midnight blue ceiling painted with twinkling stars in the Great Hall, the delicately hand painted tiles in the ‘modern’ bathrooms, and the amazing Long Gallery, running the entire length of the attics, once used for indoor exercise. Wander through the delightful gardens, laid out with consultation from the celebrated Gertrude Jekyll; the kitchen garden, still in use, features arches hung with ornamental gourdes in the autumn; and the scent from the rose and iris garden is a delight in the summer months. And there’s good news for dog owners – your pet pooch is permitted on a lead, in certain areas and in the parkland.
