It's cider season in Somerset - Fabulous Somerset holiday accommodation

Early Autumn in Somerset means one thing – Cider. In September the apples are ripening and by the middle of October cider pressing will be happening all over the county.

At Sleeps12 you’ll find our Somerset properties nestled amongst the best the cider industry has to offer. You can pop along to many of the cider farms and see how it is done for yourself. Sheppy’s near Taunton is a family run business and have been for over 200 years. You can’t help but notice the orchards as you drive towards Taunton from some of our properties.

Why not pop in and see the pressing in action, you can take your wellington boots and take a stroll in the orchards and end the afternoon with a delicious slice of cake in their tea room.

Further afield you’ll find Burrow Hill Cider near Martock or Thatchers Cider Company in Sandford. If you are thinking of doing a tour of the cider farms remember to check ahead for their opening times.

If apples are not your idea of a day out then why not indulge in some retail therapy? With gorgeous farmers markets in many of the surrounding towns you can easily while away a few hours sampling the delights of the South West and pick up a few nibbles for later by the hot tub!

Make the most of your stay in a Sleeps12 property by venturing out and seeing what the local area has to offer, don’t forget to let us know what you find. Hidden gems are the best kind. Enjoy your Autumn!
