When you stay in a Sleeps12 property you can be sure you’ll be staying in the lap of luxury. We have many families and groups who come back time after time because they know that we provide all they need for the perfect stay.
We don’t just cater for family groups though, in recent weeks we have taken bookings for health retreats, corporate event weeks and hen parties. As all organisers of booking large accommodation know making everyone happy is no mean feat. Taking the time to contact everyone in the group, packing and getting everyone to the property is the organisers job but at Sleeps12 we can help with the extras.
We apologise for not being able to pack your bag but we can help you find a caterer for a special occasion. Our team of pamper ladies can provide you with some necessary relaxation. We can even point you in the right direction for your very own cocktail waiter. The list is endless. Our website can give you the contact details but our team in the office know all of our contacts personally and can help answer any questions.
In an exclusive interview we have been talking all things crafty with one of our fantastic contacts The Crafty Hen. If you are staying in one of our properties and want a fun filled afternoon please do get in touch with them, I promise you wont be disappointed.
Activities you offer such as ceramic painting and fascinator making must be really great fun, do you have a lot of hen parties booking The Crafty Hen for these sessions?
Yes, Fascinator making has been one of the top 3 most popular sessions for hen parties since the idea for The Crafty Hen was first hatched! It’s a sophisticated activity for those who want to go against the typical hen do idea. Ceramic Painting has been a newer addition to our range of workshops, since we launched it in 2014 is has really proven itself to be popular with all groups, from birthdays to baby showers as well as hen parties of course. We find these and many of our other activities are great for lots of occasions.
What do the hen parties get out of the sessions?
With many of our sessions, each guest will get to take something away with them that they made with their own hands. From stylish things to wear like fascinators, cocktail rings, flower crowns or even a fancy pair of customised knickers! At other sessions, everyone works together to make something very special for the Bride To Be – bunting for the wedding day, a bespoke patchwork quilt or a hand painted tea set. Incorporating something special about each guest into one useful keepsake the Bride can hold onto forever.
Groups really enjoy the opportunity to have a good natter over the crafting, which is what makes them great for breaking the ice and bonding a group who don’t know each other that well.
But more than that, each guest (no matter their ability) will take away some crafty new skills. We always get feedback from groups that they are really proud of what they achieved, surprised at their own ability to make something they are excited to wear or use after the hen party. Which is more than we could ask for!
It seems as though you really enjoy what you do. Where did you get the idea from?
The Crafty Hen is all possible because of our head hen Julie Roberts, a textile artist with a wealth of workshop leader experience. Having run a wide range of workshops for a long time and for a variety of groups, the demand for hen party sessions became more than one woman (or should we say one hen!) could keep up with! Julie has a real passion for sharing her skills and seeing how pleased people are with their results, creating something they never imagined they would be able to make. So, The Crafty Hen has grown from there in a very organic way.
Do you offer any other sessions for groups other than hen parties?
Yes indeed. Right now we’re looking forward to heading into the holiday season and spreading some crafty Christmas cheer with our festive workshops. These, as well as many of our core sessions, are great for work events, baby showers, birthday parties – or just an excuse to get crafty with friends and family!
Are all your hens specialists in their areas?
We have a wide network of professional craft people tucked away all over the UK, meaning we can call upon the perfect person to run our sessions nationwide. Some of our little hens (workshop leaders) are specialists in certain field, from jewellery making, to paper artists, to crochet experts! So we can be sure to pick the best workshop leader to bring the correct skills to each and every workshop – no matter what the group will be making. Especially those who come to us with a bespoke request, hoping to make something more unusual – from superhero capes to latern making to wicker sculptures!
Craft activities seem to be hugely popular do you think that programmes such as the Great British Sewing Bee have helped with this?
Definitely – we’re big Sewing Bee fans at Crafty HQ! Also, the popularity of Pinterest means that more and more people are attempting simple crafts or DIY tutorials which they wouldn’t have had access to before and discovering a yearning to explore their creative sides. Meaning there are a lot more DIY Brides out there who want to add those personal touches to the big day. And what better way to create those special touches than with your best friends and closest family at the hen party!
